Have you been on this day trip? Do you have photos to share? and we may publish your shots on this page. Elk Rapids Township HallCompleted in 1883, every inch of this historic hall was built using local materials. Once nicknamed the "opera house" for the traveling theatre companies that routinely included Elk Rapids in their performance route, the building has recently been restored to reflect its rich history and the prominent position it occupied as one of the village's first public buildings. A large open great room, high ceilings, a generously-sized stage, and a balcony made the hall well-suited to hold gatherings from minstrel shows to charity bazaars to town meetings. The Elk Rapids Township Hall is located at the corner of River and Spruce Streets (GET MAP), across from Veterans' Memorial Park. The Hall is open for various meetings and events throughout the year, as well as during the Historical Museum's hours of operation; 264-9274
